CHABLIS PREMIER CRU VAU DE VEY
The Vau de Vey Premier Cru is widely regarded as one of two vineyards that produce fruit on par with those sporting Grand Cru status. This beautiful valley site is planted on a steep slope – too steep to use horses between the rows, even. Southeast exposure makes the most of sunlight, and the lean, stoney soil drains well.
Château de Maligny farms 16 hectares of vines in Vau de Vey, making them the owner of the largest parcel. Hand-harvested grapes are vinified traditionally, with minimal intervention. The result is a beautiful balance between fruit notes and persistent minerality.
Ample aromas and flavours of melon, lemon, and oyster shell hit all the right notes. Fresh, vibrant, and well-integrated with a pretty florality, this Chablis Premier Cru shows well young, but will likely reach its peak with a few years maturation.
