By old world standards, Valfieri is relatively young in wine producing,
having been founded in 1961. The family Clerici-Riccadonna have a
history; the current owners are the fifth generation.
In 1981 the company moved to Villa Montersino in the small village
of Costigliole d’Asti. They bought and renewed a late 1600’s villa
that now is a real show piece.
The vineyard is not large, only 15 acres, but with long term contracts
with other vineyard owners, they can purchase and vinify grapes.
Careful selection of these suppliers guarantees adequate and high
quality materials for their superb quality wines.
The rich, full-bodied Barolo is a perfect example of the winemaker’s art.
Date of Birth: 1961
Place of Birth: Alba
Mission: to produce and sell the more known and famous wines of Piedmont
with a particular attention to quality firstly in the vineyards and then in producing
and ageing. Gree harvest, technical support in the vineyards, respect for the grapes
and maximun attention in the transformation process are the keys that granted us
in almost 50 years of activity a constant growth in quality over the years.
Actual Location: in 1981 the company moved from the original location to villa
Montersino in the small village of Costiglio le d' Asti. An historic villa dated at the
end of the 17th century, that has been renewed from the Clerici-Riccadonna family
with the same attention and care for details that we put in all of our wines.
Property: the Riccadonna-Clerici family. Rosangela Riccadonna together with
her sons Maria Chiara and Angelo are the representative of the fourth and fifth
generation in the wine business. The treasure of the traditions that our family hands
from generation to generation, is something that you can't learn ant any school in
the world. The constant attention to all the details in grape growing and in wine
production, the human relations with the growers and all the steps to increase quality,
are only a small part of what means to be part of an historic wine family.
Vineyards: located in Agliano terme, the 6 hectars of the property are devoted to the
production of the more modern and innovative wines of Valfieri. Barbera, Nebbiolo
together with international grapes such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon bed in
the property. The vineyard technical support is granted by the famous agronomist
GianPiero Romana, the technician of several from the most known Italian cellars
such as Umani Ronchi, Capichera in the Sardinia Island and Vietti here in Piedmont.
With these grapes Angelo with the young and very talented Luca Caramellino,
the oenologist of Valfieri, are producing a variety of wines where they mix tradition
and innovation, in a blend that is the key of the Valfieri success over the world.
Sales: actually the 75% of our production travels around the world, our wines
are present in the following countries: USA, Canada, Japan, Brazil, Korea,
