Domaine de l'Obrieu

The history of the L’Obrieu vineyards is a little like the story of sleeping beauty and could begin with once upon a time.

Its’ awakening began with Jean-Yves Perez’s grandfather, who was convinced that behind the ivy and the brambles lay an exceptional place. He worked for several years, assisted by his son, and created the vineyards that we know today.

Domaine de L’Obrieu is a 35-acre estate located in the hills above the village of Visan, which traces its roots to Roman times.

The vineyards are composed of many different micro-climates including the famous Les Antonins vineyards, which are on terraced vineyards approximately 1,000 feet above sea level with a south-southwest exposure, which allows the vines to take full advantage of the sunshine, the Mediterranean climate and at the same time are sheltered from the Mistral.

Pebbles, red clay, white clay, old Grenache “gobelets” or Syrah trellised-over generations, the family experience and observation have allowed each variety to develop in harmony with the “terroir”.
