Domaine Dubois

By French standards, the Dubois domaine is relatively new. The first vines were purchased by Louis Dubois in 1898, over 100 years ago. The small five-acre parcel has grown into a fairly large domaine of 55 acres. It is difficult to buyvines in Burgundy, so the Dubois’ exploit 19 different appellations. In Vosne-Romanee and Chambolle-Musigny, for example, their holdings are only ½ acre. It is the fourth generation that is running the domaine, a brother and sister team – Beatrice and Raphael.  Both are competent enologists, having completed the course at The Lycee Viticole in Beaune.  Beatrice runs the cellar.  She so loves wine and wine making that she spends her vacations as a wine maker in the Southern hemisphere. It is a difficult domaine to run.  Tiny parcels of vines are spread through the Cote de Beaune and the Cote de Nuits.

NUITS SAINT GEORGES

The appellation Nuits-Saint-Georges spans from this village into Premeaux-Prissey.
Les Chaillots, Les Longecourts, Les Plantes au Baron, are the vineyards of the
domaine in Nuits and Premeaux-Prissey. These vineyards are aged on average
of 30 years.

This wine possesses a beautiful, deep, dark color. The aroma is powerful and
complex: cherries, black current, and spices. The Nuits Saint Georges is full bodied,
long on the pallet, seductive and powerful.
